The Temenos Academy sprang from a journal of the same name that had been launched by poet and scholar Kathleen Raines, together with Keith Critchlow, Brian Keeble and Philip Sherrard. The journal gave space to poets, artists, writers and thinks who believed that the human being is primarily a spiritual creature with spiritual needs, which have to be nourished if we are to fulfil our potential and find contentment.  Today the Academy is a teaching organisation committed to the learning of the imagination. Its patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.
