Psychotherapy of Addiction – 7th Annual Conference

The 7th Annual Conference on Psychotherapy of Addiction takes place on 27 and 28 June 2011 at Friends House, Euston Road, London NW1.

The theme of the first day will be Addiction – with and without drugs. Presentations include: Psychodynamic approaches to people with gambling problems by Derek Irwin, What is co-dependency? by Dr Tracy Burroughs, The abuse of an object and relating through incoroporation by Jungian analyst Jean Knox and From toxic projections to dependency – group analysis and eating disorders by Sally Willis.

The second day has as its theme Time, Memory, Healing. Presentations will include Alistair Sweet on Black holes; collapses of time in the mind of the addict; Pathologies of time, memory and desire by Jill Fowler and Ryan Kemp, and From enmeshment to recovery by Consultant psychologist Martin Weegman.

    I am starting up a Dual Diagnosis unit at a psychiatric clinic in SA,. Allan Sweidan is the Managing Director, and has suggested that the annual conference hosted by yourself is a rich learning experience.
